Background
Concerns of waste management are looming larger in developing countries that have not developed adequate waste management policies or systems, trash collection services, or government institutions to properly manage their wastes, this is especially critical with the outbreak of COVID-19. Many developing country cities are faced with these challenges and in urgent needs of improving the situation. The Cities project perceived substantial needs of developing cities in improving their waste management and added waste management in its work plan of establishing city clusters. Capacity development, knowledge and GP exchanges, pilot and demonstration activities will be facilitated and implemented in partnership with UN specialized agencies.
